HI DENNISIA, I HAVE 2 CHILDREN WITH THE LAST NAME "SWANEGAN". Crystal Charmaine Swanegan , born 11-28-1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah and Nicholas Donnelle Swanegan born 03-05-1981 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I married their father Anthony Ladon Swanegan in August of 1980 and moved to OK city, OK. You may already know all the Swanegan's in Oklahoma. Anthony's fathers name is Alonzo Swanegan. He married Zeffie and they had 3 children - Anthony, Ondraye and Alicia. Anthony was born May 15, 1960. Alonzo was in the navy for many years and retired back in Oklahoma city, where he worked at Tinker Air force base doing something with airplane maintenance, (i think) anyway my marriage to Anthony didnt last long. I believe he ended his 4th marriage a couple years ago. and i think he lives in Texas somewhere. He had 2 more children with his 3rd wife Tammy. 2 more boys name Marcus Jeremy. i do not know their birthdates. My daughter Crystal gave birth to a little girl named "Keelea Calton". They live in OK city now where Crystal works for a "Cox Cable" company working in dispatch. My son Nick is currently going to college at Western Oregon University. he is in his second year

Laura,

I have never met you but I do know your children very well. They are my cousins. I went to John Marshall High School with Crystal and I have seen at lot of ads from the papers about Nick playing football. I haven't seen them in a long time but I do talk to Alicia from time to time. Alicia is my second cousin. Lonnie is my grandfather's brother. Charles Swanegan in Watonga, Ok.

Hello, I only recently read your e-mail to Denise in Kansas City. Would love to hear more about the Swanegans in Oklahoma particularly in Oklahoma City. We have a son who is in his first year at UCO. Would love to give him your phone number to contact you. Or will send you his phone number if you would please contact him. I understand you are a Swanegan by marriage but with your last name and the spelling of your last name can't help but feel that we are either related or that there are some more Swanegans out there that we should know. I await your response

Alonzo & Zeffie "Dolores" Swanegan OK city, OK (405)751-2129 x-inlaws, Alicia Swanegan (405)341-1207 x-sis inlaw, Tammy Swanegan has 2 sons-Marcus & Jeremy Midwest City,OK (405)737-9208 (my x-hubby 3rd wife) she loves to talk! please keep me informed for my
children's sake. I have plenty history going back to 1600's on my side, but nothing past their grandparents on x-hubby side. I do know that Alonzo & Zee both grew up in Watonga, OK - had 3 children -Anthony,Ondraye,Alicia. Alonzo joined Navy, worked 20 years, went back to OK City and worked out at Tinker Airforce base working on planes I believe. I do not know if he has retired yet. I found a "Swanegan Creek" listed in Tennessee, I would like to go as far back in their lineage as possible. I just read an article that the Mormon church has made available records from early slave ships and possibly back to Africa. keep me informed too

I'm happy to see folks using this message board! I have not given up on my "dig" into the family name and history. Just this morning I got a lead from someone in reference to a Swanegan in the Mississippi and Louisiana areas. John Swanegan was born in December of 1886 near Oakland, MS and married Henritta Jacoson in June of 1919 in St.Helena Parish in Louisiana.
I apologize if I haven't replied to any of the postings directly, but intend to do so soon. Until then....love and blessings to all my Swanegan relatives, known and unknown!

I would like to know where the name "Swanegan' originated from. I am trying to gather any known information dating as far back as possible. I want to put together a family tree for my 2 children, Crystal Swanegan (age 23) and Nick Swanegan (age 20)
Currently Crystal lives in Oklahoma City with her daughter "Keelea Calton". Nick has recently moved to San Jose, Ca where he is attending "Foothills Jr college" located in Los Altos, Ca. He will be playing football for them this year, his goal is to hopefully get picked up by a bigger school. If not he will probably come home and attend Portland State next year.
thank you for any information you can share with me

Laura:
I have encountered two different ideas as to the origin of the Swanegan surname. The most commonly held opinion is that is of Irish origin. My great-grandfather, Killis Swanegan, was a very fair-skinned mulatto with reddish-brown hair that he wore long and parted down the middle. That information I got from my father's sister, who will be 93 yrs old this October, and remembers him from her childhood.
The other opinion, and this I got from some research at the library one day, is that Swanegan has German origins. I am still delving into the family history, digging through census reports and the like. Any information you may have about the Swanegans your children are related to would be most appreciated. As my cousin, Al Swanegan, posted on this message board, the likelihood of us being related is great indeed....given the exact spelling of Swanegan.
I would love to hear from you or your children directly. Please email me at either of these addresses:
