Looking for relatives in U.S. and Italy. My great grandfather, John Louis Tambini and his wife, Maria Podesta came to the U.S. in 1873. I believe other family members came with them, but haven't been able to document this. Any help?

My grandfather was called Giacomo Sterlini and was born 27/02/1898 in the area of Bardi in Italy. He came over to North Wales, Great Britain around 1912, but had to return to Italy during World War 1 to serve in the Italian Army. After the end of the war he returned to North Wales again. We know that he had a sister who emigrated to California, but sadly he lost touch with her. We would be grateful on any information. Thanks.

Hi Mandy: Your message is intriguing. I think you should be referring to South Wales. That's where most of the Italians migrated. My father, Vittorio Sterlini was from Bardi and the first born (4 March 1897) of five brothers. He and his brothers did migrate to South Wales and returned to Italy to serve in the Italian Army in World War One. After the war they did return to South Wales. My father's younger brothers were named: Giovanni, Luigi, Giuseppe and Felice. Vittorio, Giovani, Felice and Luigi returned to South Wales and eventually ended up in London. The similarity of your Giacomo and my uncle Giovanni intrgues me. I do have a photo of the five brothers together. They did have a sister, who died at a very young age.One thing for sure: all the Sterlini's in Bardi were related. Please do contact me. Best Wishes! Sincerely, Albert Sterlini: sebastianWoof@cs.com, tel: 248 649 5929 aslo my fax: 248 649 0162.

Hi Albert,

My grandmother ( Mum's mum) is Maria Sidoli nee Sterlini and she was born in Bardi, Italy in 1927. Her parents were Giuseppe and Rosa Sterlini. She has two sisters, Yolanda and Giannina also born in Bardi and living in Italy.
I know that we do have some distant relatives in South Wales ( Triorchy??) as my grandfather has been there on several occasions.
I saw that your father is called Vittorio with Giuseppe as one of his brothers - perhaps there is a connection?
I would have to check with my nonna! I know it is the end of her family tree with Sterlini as she married Sidoli.
It would be interesting to hear from you.

Hello,
Well better a late (real late) reply ... My great grandfather andn grandfather came over from the Parma region in the late 1880's and early 1890s. Surname, Tambini... (Names Bartolomeo & Guesseppi repectively) I cannot find out what preceded them in italy ... any thoughts ? Names ring a bell ?
