Have an Elija Tippin (Tippings et al) of Gwenett and Cob Co GA born abt 1805. There was only one other Tippens var. I could find at the time in the census, John, who was a next door neighbor. John's lineage I can trace to SC. His Uncle was Andrew Cicero Tippings. My Elija's son was Andrew Cicero Tippin, but was recorded as Andrew Cicero Tipings in one of the censi (sp?) Elija was m. to Sarah Flannagan, but, I can't trace either one of them back. Any help? Dorr

but i dont know where he was born. Married my grandma in early 1920's.(she was Melvina Lavinia and born in France) she died of brights disease in early 1950 and grandad married again. He died in 1983 or 84. my dad is still alive and is 74 this birthday. William Edward seems to be a common family name on the male side.

The family line that I came from dates to the 1500 and 1600s. The frist american settler was a William Tipping Born 3-18-1630 in County Oxford England. He died in 1714 in Maryland. The name changed to Tippins, Tippens, and Tipppen. The only English Histry I have Shows County Oxford, County Shabington, County Wheatfield, County Sutton, County Merton and County Draycott. The very earliest member in the family traced is William Tipping of Tipping Hall, County Lancaster, England, Born 1470. The information I have on the Tipping name ( anciently Typpynge) originated from a ville or hamlet in the township of Clayton-le-Dale, situated about five miles northeast from the city of Blackburne, County Lancaster, England. The Masion House called Tipping hall was the family seat in the time of Edward 3rd (1328-1377) and probably much earlier.

thanks for this addition.my uncle wife some years ago did a family tree for the family and told us that we had a "county seat"?? or words to that effect. since my uncle passed away we have had little contact and she has since remarried but i am endeavouring to find them. your information sounds very similiar to what she told us. i believe at the time she mentioned a castle.

thanks for your quick reply. will be intouch when we know some more.

by the way where are you?? I am in ipswich in queensland in australia.
