Hi, I am writing this e-mail from Poland. My
great-grandmother's maidenname was Turski (it was
a noble family). I am very interested in the
genealogical matters, but unfortunately I don't
know too much about the Turski's yet. However, it
isn't very popular name in Poland, so I presume that
all people of this name have the common roots.
Anyway, if I'll find in the records the people
you are looking for, I'll let you know it. It
won't be easy without knowing the name of the
parish they had been living in Poland. Greetings!

I am writing from Canada and our family history was lost during the war. My grandfather was born in Poland and when he was 8, adopted my the Polish Army. We are, as far as we know, the only Turski's left from that family. If anyone has ANY information about the Turski line please get back to me! We don't know anything, so anything would be helpful.

This is what I have so far, hopefully, the info may contain something or maybe a clue where you can start. MATEUZ TURKSI married MARY had a daughter KATHERINE TURSKI(1871 or 1874 - 1966). KATHERINE married FRANK POVALSKI in 1896 Reading Berks County PA. They had several children. I found another TURKSI Family in this area. STEFAN TURSKI married FRANCISCA 2 sons are known. FRANK TURKSI (1868-1936) married KATARZYNA OCHOCKA in 1895. JOHN TURSKI(1871-1948) married ANNIE WITKOSKI in 1901. Both of these marriage took place in Reading, Berks County PA. The only consistency is birthplace on all marriage applications listed "Russia-Poland"

Classification: Query
Surnames: Turski-Kruczkowski
I hope someone sees this!!! I am not as far as I know blood related to anyone w/the surname Turski. My great-great grandfather Joseph Kruczkowski came to Toledo,OH from Poznen, Germany-Poland. (Area w/in Poland controled by Russia at the time.) In his obituary, 3 brothers with the last name Turski are listed as his step brothers. In some census in Toledo it says they are from Russian, Poland, Poland-Russia, and even saw Germany. Joseph Kruczkowski always listed Germany or Poland. However, I have no record of Joseph's parents, he came with his sister when he was still young, and I have no census that lists Joseph as living with any Turski family in the area. Ironically, Kruczkowski is not a common name within Poland and the USA! Any information you can give about the origin of the last name or any bit of information is appreciated. :)
