Hi,
My name is Johannie van Antwerpen. I am looking for any info I can get on the van Antwerpen family tree, especially the van Antwerpen family in South Africa. My husband is very interested in genealogy, and wants to begin the South African branch of the van Antwerpen family tree. I would also be interested in chatting to family members from around the world.
Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Johannie

I came across your message board by accident, while looking for information on van Antwerp. I was born van Antwerp [not en] in South Africa [Durban]. No use to you at all I know, but wanted to say hi anyway. I wish you all the best in your search.

Toni,
When my first ancestors arrived in New Amsterdam, his name was Daniel Jans Van Antwerpen. Along the way it was shortened to Van Antwerp. If it happened in the U.S. it could also happen anywhere else in the world. One of my Van Nieuwkercke lines also migrated to South Africa - by the time my gggrandmother was born in Kentucky, it was simply Newkirk.

My 5-G Grandparents were Abraham Van Antwerpen, b - 9/12/1725 and Margaret (Kaljer) Van Antwerpen, b - ??. They lived in the Schenectady/Albany area of NY. Thier daughter, Nelly, b - 9-10-1766, married Hermanus Peek, Jr. 7/5/87.
We have a sampler made in 1774 by Nelly which lists her parents and (probably) her maternal grand parents, Aaron Sophya Vadder.
Does anything here connect?

I do not have that name in my files. My Daniel Janse Van Antwerpen was in the Schenectady, NY area about that time. Many records destroyed by the French Indians in 1699, so I don't know of any siblings/relatives.

Classification: Query
My mother, Cristina Susanna Pretorius, is the daugter of Christina Susanna van Greenen (Married as Pretorius), which again was the daugher of one of the daughters of CJ Van Antwerpen.

She is not sure about the name her Grandmother - One of the daughters of CJ Van Antwerpen, but her mother's Maiden name was Van Greenen. Do you have any information about the Daughers of CJ van Antwerpen in SA?

Greetings
