I live in Barnesville, OH and descend from John Van Duyn-1762 of NJ. Interested in exchanging Van Dyne information and possibly finding new relatives.

Hi Gene,

Will take a trip to your web site, chances are we are barking up the same tree just on different branches. I descend from a John Van Duyn B: 1762 in NJ and died between 1850/1860 in Indiana.

I may be able to help you since I have a number of Van Dynes that lived and married in Indiana. I just don't know if I have who you are looking for at this time and have 3 or 4 different files to go through. I will take down your information and try to get back to you or you can contact me at my email address which is

My 3rd cousin, Robert A. VanDyne of Salina Ka, is the
official keeper of the line. He has tracked our roots
back to Matthew VanDuyn b. Aug.,1752 in NJ d. Dec., 1837
in Butler Co. , Ohio. Bob has been unable to identify any
siblings or parents for Matthew. You can look at the Vandyne
forum at for some of our notes to others. When
you get to my web site, there are plenty of places to drop me
an e-mail from, and please visit my unknown photos pages to see
if you recognize anyone.

Thanks for the reply, I've been working with Bob off and on for about 7 years now and both of us have ran into the same problems with our ancestors. We have tracked them back to NJ but can't seem to find the connection to the main group there.

I just started to look in to tracing my family's heritage. Ironically enough, I was on the phone with my father about five minutes ago and he mentioned that I should try finding Robert VanDyne's web page. I think it's one of my dad's cousins. Can you send me the link?

Bob has supplied a great deal of information
which I maintain on my web site:
for much of the Kansas family line.
Once you get there you can use any link that
says "send comments" to send me an e-mail. Then
I'll send you info on how to get in touch with
Bob, or if you include enough info I'll have him
contact you.
If you haven't noticed, you can't get someone's
email address on this forum unless they post
it in their message
per page
