i am looking for other members of the Vander Wende Family. My grandparents both immigrated from Holland around the turn of the century. They lived in New Jersey. My grand father was Martin Henry. He had a sister Betty and other brothers and sisters. Eager to hear. Please write.

I am also looking for vander Wendes who immigrated from Holland. I know there was a Jan (John) who lived in NJ and helped all the relatives come over. Jan had at least two brothers that we know of named Cornelius and Lane and they were all the children of another Leendert. I believe Jan was the uncle of Teunis & Leendert vander Wende (their parents were Leendert and Maatje), but I have no evidence to connect them yet. Leendert (Leonard) married Katherine Leitner and had 4 children (one of which was Elizabeth Mary "Betty") and Teunis married Cathalyntje and had 12 children (including a Julia). Leendert would have emigrated around 1890 or so, but Jan was here before that. Please contact me if any of this sounds familiar.

I really wish I could help with this one, but I don't have an Ellen in my DB. That does not mean that there isn't a connection, it just means it has not been found yet. I still have not been able to locate the connection between the 2 branches I have records for. I know they are related, as all the records have been passed down to me, I just don't know how.

JoAnne. My great grandparents were Cornelius and Lena Ruit VanderWende. I know that we were related to a Berkenbush through My grandfather's (Tunis) brother Cornelius who lived in Passaic. Any info that you might have about Cornelius and Lena would be appreciated. I would like to know where they were from in Holland and anything else that you might have.

I finally found some new info: Cornelius VDW who was married to Lena Ruit's parents were:
Cornelius Van Der Wende born 1815 in Goeree, Zuid Holland
Klaartje (unknown maiden name) born 1811
They came to USA in 1867 on the Arnold Boninger
Klaartje died and was buried at sea on the way over. Their son Teunis was with them. I have a copy of the ship's manifest.
If you need more info please ask
