I am related to a number of Huxtas, and know the lineage of the various names that you mentioned. Most specifically, Vuksta was the spelling when my great, great, great grandfather lived in Austria. Please e-mail me if you have any comments or questions.

Carolyn,
I am glad you contacted me as I have been studying my family roots for a number of years and I have always been intrigued by the possibility of a Huxta-Vuxta connection.
Back in 1993, I had spoken with Mary Laughlin of your side of the family and it appears that the common relative was a woman named Mary Vuksta Gretsky whom the Huxta side said was a cousin. Mary Gretsky is my grand-aunt, the sister of my grandfather, John Vuxta.
In studying the available information from the Huxta and Vuxta sides, I have been unable to find a common ancestor between the two.
I am assuming that your gg grandfather was Michael Vuksta, married to Mary Hancharik.
Does Your family information go back before Michael?
Do you know of Mary Gretsky and how she is related to the Huxtas?

Thanks for contacting me.

the problem you are having finding it is due too the written translation from the native language.

My maiden name was Vuxta. I'm interested in learning more about it. I believe, at one time, someone told me that our name was changed from Fuscta to Vuxta at Ellis Island. I could be wrong. My father is George Vuxta, son of John Vuxta, of Pennsylvania.
