My father Ronald R. Werts, Sr. died of asbestos cancer this year. The whole year was turned over after dad and the family found out that he was going to die.

Anyway, Samuel Werts was a civil war (union) solider who lost his arm during the civil war. I would have to go our to Sugar Grove Cemetery to find out the dates of birth and death along with his wife's name which is on record at the Eaton County Courthouse (The old court house on the third floor).

Back in the 1980's, I started to research my family (Werts) because they are buried here within a 25 mile radius of where I live. My paperwork is packed up because I moved to California to take care of my grandfather Zumbrun, and then after he passed away, I moved back home, and my wife and I then moved again after we returned to Ohio.

Anyway, with Samuel Werts birth date and death date, you can pull his military record form the United State Government, and if you live close to Eaton Ohio, you can find marriage records as well as birth records of Samuel Werts's family. He is buried in West Alexandria at the Sugar Grove Cemetery which is located between Eaton and New Lebanon Ohio. West Alexandria has a memorial service on Veterans Day honoring all the Veterans that are buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

I hope that this helps you in your search for Samuel Werts. Again, I am sorry that I haven't responded sooner

Sincerely,

Ronald R. Werts, Jr.
