I am having a very hard time finding relatives with the Westgate surname. I can only go back to my great-grandfather Edward Westgate who married Elizabeth Butterfield on September 22, 1879 in Prentis, Maine. The family has not been much on history and the only thing I know about Edward is that he had a brother by the name of James or Jim. There may have been a sister or others but the names are not well know. There was a lady who lived in Bangor, Maine who stated that her mother was Edward's sister. This lady was Gertrude "Bodreau" Crawford. She had a sister that lived in Toronto Canada and a sister who lived in Bangor by the name of Annie Keenan. Edward's brother James also went by the surname of Wescott. James had a daughter by the name of Ellen, but I have no idea what ever happened to her. Edward and Elizabeth had 2 living children. John Edward Westgate and Linnie Westgate True. If anyone can ggive me any information on my ancestors, I would be greatly appreciate it. I have cousins who thought the family my have migrated to Maine through New Brunswick, Canada. I have not gone to Canada to check the records because my cousins said they went there in the fifties and found no information. I think it may be a case of the family tree having ties to the Loyalists and other members not wanting to acknowledge them. I can update anyone who can help me. Thanks

Hello. I am also searching for the parents of Jonathan Westgate. Do you have any information on Jonathan and Hannahs children and who they married. I am a descendant through their son Obed and his first wife Hannah Hall. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I have no information on Obeds Brothers or sisters. Thanks.

I am related to Jonathan Westgate and Hannah Gammons.

I have a copy of Jonathan Westgate's will which list all of their kids. Jonathan Westgate married twice more after Hannah Gammons. He had more kids with his second wife.

I have a tree on ancestry that I can invite you to connect with. I am currently working on finishing it should be done with the whole tree in a couple of months.

Thank you for your response to my message. My research on Jonathan was for my niece who is on that line. I also have the 1822 will. As I remember we were able to connect to the Westgates who came down from Salem, MA, to S.E. MA. They were seafaring men. And we were looking for a possible connection to ALDEN, since that name was used in later generations in the Westgate line.
I should look at your Pub. Mem. Tree for comparison. What is the name of your tree?
