I'm researching the ancestors of Frank Zak, born 1-8-1922 in Tasove, County of Hodonin, Moravia, Czechoslovakia. He was the son of Frank Zak and Apolena Hruska. Frank Zak's(the father) parents were Frank Zak of Lipove and Agnes Stipsky. Apolena's parents were Matthew Hruska of Tasove and Mariann Roman.
The family came to Chicago, Ill. USA in the late 20's. Frank Zak served in WW2- 434th FTR Contl Sq. as a radio operator, then settled in Connecicut.
Any one with any info may contact me.

Was your Zak family from Czechoslavakia? I was told my grandfather Frank Zak had only 1 half-sister, named Josephine. However, her daughter's name was Mildred. But mildred's maiden name wouldn't hane been Zak. So I don't know if we are talking about th1e same family. Let me know what you think.

Frank must have been a popular name in the Zak family as my father-in-law was also a Frank. His parents, Joseph (Josef?) and Julia Siska-Zak came to the US just before the opening day of WWI, along with Julia's sister and husband, and stopped in New Jersy, Iowa before settling in northern Wisconsin. We have been in contact with an elderly cousin in what was Austria/Czech in the early 1900s. Does anyone have any connection to these two in their family tree?

Family name "ZAK-Czech"

My Grandfather was Fedor (Frank) Zak sometimes spelled Zsak. He came from Czech in early 1900. He married in Pittsburgh, Pa. and had seven children one of whom was named "Julia" My Aunt Julia corresponded with relatives in Czech but we lost contact with them in 1969 When my Aunt died. She was the only one who could read and write in Czech. My Niece and my Cousin are trying to trace our roots to Czech but we don't know how to do that as we never knew their names only my Aunt Julia did and she never spoke of them using names just "our relatives etc" Maybe someone out there has info that can help. thanks, Shirley

I am a descendant of a Julianna Zak. She married my grandfather, Albert Dudzinski and they lived in Homestead, PA, near Pittsburgh. I guess this was around the turn of the century as my Dad, a Matthew Dudzinski was born in 1916. Julianna had 3 kids, Helen, Matthew, and Wanda. Just wondering if we are distant cousins. Only thing is, my grandmother died in 9/72. Any thoughts??? Elaine

Small world Elaine, Homestead is just above where I grew up, Greeenfield. I had a cousin who had a daughter named Helen who lived in Homestead but lost track of her years ago. Helen did marry a polish man but can't remember his name only that he was a really nice person. My aunt was named Julia but she never married. My relative still live in Pittsburgh, specifically Greenfield. My Aunt Mary and my Niece Karen still make piorgies at St Mary's Church on Beechwood Blvd. You didn't say if you still lived in Pittsburgh. I planning a trip to Pgh in September of this year. Maybe we can get the family together and see if we are related. Thanks for responding to my inquiry. Shirley (I have lived in Florida for the last 22 years)
