Hi,
I am looking for Info leading to the discovery of my ancestors! My grandfather was Clarence Zurcher born 3 Mar 1908. He was born in the Helvatia OR Area. His Father was Christian Zurcher. The original spelling of the last name was Zuercher, which was changed somewhere close to the turn of the century to Zurcher. If you have any info about this line of my family, I would much appreciate it.

Have a great day!

I ahve lots of info re: Zurcher/Zediker/Zedaker families, plus those who married into families. My earliest Christopher 1734-1786. Obviously too early for your grandfather, but there might be a connection someplace in my records. Who was your Christian Zurcher married to? My Zurcher/Zedikers seem to have come into this country in Phila PA area, spread to Washington Co PA and points west. Would like to help, do you have email address? thanks lois 9/14

HI,
My Great Grandparents, Christian Zurcher/Zuercher(Used both spellings)were the first of my relations to come to the U.S.
They came right at the turn of the Century from Switzerland, directly to the Portland OR area. We may be related somewhere farther back however. My parents have some microfilm tapes that have more info on this line, but they need to locate it before we can find out more. My Great Grandmother's maiden name was Treuthardt, first name I'll have to locate on my paperwork. I believe though that they were first cousins. I'm still very new to this Geneology with only about three generations traced back on my fathers lines. I've been fortunate to have family working on my mothers side, where at least one of my lines is traced as far back as is humanly possible. When I Study my Swiss Roots some more, I'll Send a message with what I Actually have. My email address is elderelder@hotmail.com
Thanks!

Hi,
I am searching out what I can find on a connection between a marraige of Louis Joseph Theodore ZURCHER in 1847 to my relative of Constantine Caroline Melanie Baumann from Alsace-Lorraine, France. They were married in BOllwiller, France and have no other information about them. Any connection would he appreciated.

My grandfather is Clarence Zurcher born in 1910 in Boise, Idaho. His father is Oscar Walter Zuercher, his father Gottlieb Zuercher, his father Christen Zuercher. Christian had a son born in 1837 named Christian. Christian(1837)had a son named Christian I think born in the 1860's. I am doing this for memory, so I am not positive. I do know some of Christian's family came to the U.S., but lived in the Midwest. Christian(1837) had a sister(Wuithrich/Wettrick) whose children moved to Seattle, and who where prominant attorneys in the area. The attorneys where cousins to my great grandfather Oscar who moved to Boise in 1901 from Nebraska. This Zurcher family seemed to have a tendency to move to the Northeast, and my grandmother heard of family living in the Portland, Oregon area. Unfortunately, I do not know who they were. Our Grandfather's also as you know have the same name, and relatives tend to name their children the same names. I maybe able to help you if you know when Christian was born.

My Grandfather's name is also Clarence, and he was born in 1910 in Boise, Idaho. Although, his father Oscar Walter Zurcher moved from Nebraska in 1901. Oscar's parents moved from Switzerland/Germany in 1874 going to Ohio. Oscar's father, Gottlieb, died in Ohio, but his mother Caroline went to Nebraska in about 1895. I do not know why a widow would move, except if she had some famiy members there already. I do know Gottlieb had some family living in the Midwest Kansas or Nebraska, but I do not know where. I do not know if this is the same family as yours because your information was lacking. What is your grandfather's fathers name and so forth.

Dear christopher,
Received your reply on both our grandfathers being named Clarence Zurcher. Clarence grandfather-Henry Zurcher was born in Teufon,Switzerland and settled in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1854. He had 7 children with Adelaide Anhorn-John Jacob(Clarence father), Henry, Gideon, Ed, Tom, Lydia, Emma. It sounds like your family came a little bit later from Switzerland. Did you know even to this day the Switzerland newspaper is named Zurcher Paper in Zurich.

Mary Pat,
I did not know that Zurich's paper was called the Zurcher Paper. If we are related it would be a few hundred years back I think. I have my Zurcher line traced back to the 1550s in Trub, Bern, Switzerland, but I am interested in my great great grandfather's family members who came to the United States. Marc Thomas, who is in this forum, is a descendant of a sister of my great great grandfather Gottlieb Zuercher.
Thanks,
Christopher
