He owned a trading post in Knik a few years after 1890. The town of Palmer supposdley was named after him.

There is a listing for George W. Palmer's grave site at the Anchorage Memorial Cemetery, Anchorage, Alaska. It does not list birth date. His death date is 10 Apr 1930 I will keep checking to see if I can find more information for you. The next time I go to Anchorage, I will see if the stone has a birthdate on it. The cemetery index also comes up on a Google search.
