I'm searching for information on the orphans who were in the Soldier's National Homestead Orphanage in Gettysburg, PA. I have lists of the children that were there and will do look-ups. The orphanage was in existence from 1866 till 1877.

I hope to compile these children's stories for a book. If anyone has any and would like to share please contact me.

Do you have a Edward C. or Edgar Matthews listed as an orphan? Thanks for your generosity in offering look-ups.

I am looking for my grandfather (maternal) know he was orphaned and attended Girard College, at that time, for orphan boys in PA.
Do not know of siblings or parentage. Perhaps you have something. Perhaps born 1865-1870?

The lists I have are only for The Homestead Orphanage in Gettysburg PA. But I think Girard College is still in existence. My ex-husband's cousins attended there in the 70's. Have you tried to contact them? Also the city archives in Phila may have information on that. Good luck.
