Will do look-up in index for Sevoyeta/sevolleta 1860-1870 census, surname: MARQUEZ.
There were many Marquez people in Sevoyeta/Sevolleta 8th precinct in the 1860 & 1870 census index. I'm looking for a Rafaela MARQUEZ, born probably about 1860 who may have moved to either Sierra Co., Grant Co., or Luna Co. She married Valentin DOMINGUEZ who died 1914, & she probably re-married. A son was Jose A. DOMINGUEZ, born 1881 in Hillsboro, Sierra Co.& married Georgia SWARTZ. Need parents of RAFAELA MARQUEZ. My e-mail: totareqksm@webtv.net

I am also looking for Marquez's in Sevoyeta. I am still working on the 1880 Census, but if I run into any names you have mentioned I will let you know. I am currently working on Juan B. Marquez (wife Serafina) and just barely starting my (Prajedes) Martinez family, also from Sevoyeta. Good Luck with your search>

Where can I find this index for Sevoyeta/sevolleta? My Great Grandfather might be listed there as Maxmiano Marquez. His wife's first name was Maria Elena or Mary Helen. I don't have her maiden name. He was a sheep herder. My grandfather (one of Maxmiano's sons) was Dennicio Marquez. All my living family members could remember was names and the town of Sevoyeta "near Grants, NM." I'm just looking for a lead to start on.

Do you think all the Marquez' in Sevoyeta are related? Or is this a common name? Does Juan B. Marquez possibly have any relation to a Maxmiano Marquez (wife, Maria Elena)?

might have found a lead to Rafaela's parent/grandparent.

Let me know if you are still pursuing this.
