Looking for any information on the surname Hindahl. Alfred Christ Hindahl was born on 8/8/1879 in Ellsworth, WI and died on 4/29/1963. Was born to Peter Hindahl and Sigrid Flatten and was married to Gina Caroline Holman on 7/29/1916. Alfred is buried in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Ellsworth, WI. Any info going past Peter and Sigrid would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Surnames: farm names Flatten (Flotten, Flaten), Moen, Olesbar, Brandold (Brandvold), Graven, Overby (Overbye)
I am pretty confident that we are talking about the same persons, so here is the info I have so far. Sigri was born 7 Mar 1855 in Hedmark, Norway. She was christened 5 Apr 1855 in Tylldal, Hedmark, Norway (the same place I believe her to have been born.) Her birth name was Sigri Ottersdatter, Flatten (or Flotten, Flaten) was the farm name. They used this farm name as their last name sometimes in America. She was the daughter of Otter Larsen (Flatten farm) b. 9 May 1830 also in Tylldal, Hedmark, Norway, d. unknown (assumption is that he died in US but have not found burial yet) and Sigri O. Larsdatter (farm Moen) b. 1822 in Tylldal, Hedmark, Norway, d. 13 Oct 1879 in Wisconsin and is buried in Old Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Martell Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin. Otter and Sigri had five children that I know of thus far: Beret (Berit and also went by Betsy) Ottersdtr who married Svend (went by Sam) Anderson; Simon Ottersen; Lars Ottersen who died in Norway at age 9; Elizabeth Ottersdtr who died here in America at around age 8; and Sigri who married Peter Hindahl. I have located a copy of the Ellis Island record where Sigri traveled with her sister Beret (Betsy) from Norway. If interested, let me know and I can send that to you.

Sigri's father's side:
Otter Larsen (Flatten) was the son of Lars Ottersen and Beret Olsdatter (Graven). Together they had at least five children that I am aware of: Otter Larsen; Ole Larsen; Beret Larsdtr; Maret Larsdtr; and Sigri Larsdtr. (Yes, Otter Larsen also had a sister named Sigri Larsdtr as was the name of his wife.)

Lars Ottersen was the son of Otter Olsen (Overby) and Sigre Larsdtr (Brandold or Brandvold).

Sigri's mother's side:
Sigri O. Larsdtr (Moen) was the daughter of Lars (Moen) and Sigi (Olesbar). I am sorry, but at this point, this is all the information that I have of them. Toghether they had four children that I know of: Sigri; Ole Larsen; Katy Larsdtr; Sven Larsen.

I descend from Beret (Berit, Betsy) and would love to connect with you or anyone else related to this family. Please email me at the address listed under my name.

Yes, according to Christopher A. Hindahls obit, he had one brother named Alvin in Westminster,CA and one sister, a Mrs. Charles Armburst of Long Beach, CA. Christopher was the son of Peter and Sarah Hindahl (in the obit it says her maiden name was Flatten). Christopher would be my Great-grandpa.

Hi Mike. Sharon M. just contacted me and I do have a few things for you. I haven't had much time to devote to digging lately (it's more of a winter thing for me and we just moved so all my stuff is packed up) so I would be happy to exchange what I have. I have met your grandma on a few different occasions. She is a really fun and wonderful woman.

Hey Mike, Taunya again. Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not. I have the original citizenship papers for a Peder Anderson Hindahl dating May 2nd, 1882 (Arnie's great grandpa's). Do you think this is the same person with the name flip flopped? I can send you a copy of the original and the version I transcribed cuz the paper is 126 years old and is a bit yellow and brittle. Let me know :)
