Robert Campton...in particular John, William, and Robert (for whom
Camptonville, CA was named). John married (2nd marriage) Nancy in Adams, OH,
William married Elizabeth B VAN MATRE, and Robert married Sarah FLETCHER. I will

Mary Elizabeth Campton Thoms was my grandmother. I am thinking that possibly John Campton was born in 1786 and the son of Robert Campton--sibling of Robert b.1780 and William b.1783. Does this fit in with the information you have on the Campton family?

Yes, John Campton (b 1786) is the sibling of Robert and William. I show Robert as born in 1890 however, not 1880. Not sure which is correct, but 1890 fits prett well with his first born which was in 1811.

(a blacksmith) that Camptonville, CA was named for.

Ron: Thanks to your info I have corrected my data base. FTM does not copy well, and this is long to type in. i have 19 pages in the Geneology report and about 4 in descendant report. Andrew Pierce Campton (b 1818) and his wife Marjorie (Hurd) and their gravestones), and Louise Campton (b 1858) and her husband John (MacDonald) (plus gravestones).
