Hi everyone,
My name is Andrea Goldson. I would really like to know more about the origin of the name Goldson. I don't have much links to this side of my family. My fathers name was Lloyd Goldson and his Father's name was Baron Goldson. They are both deceased so I don't know much about this side of my family. I am from Jamaica. I was so excited to see this posting.

Hello Andrea,

I am also Andria Goldson and was born in Jamaica. I married a Goldson who's parents were Noel (from Westmoreland) and Sheila Goldson, both Lived in Kingston. Not sure if we are somehow related but my understanding is that there were two separate families in Kingston but both were not related. Maybe we can trade family history at some time.

Hi Andria,
This is exciting. I will share with you what little information I have. I have also heard that there are two different sets of Goldsons in Jamaica that are not related. There is one set in Spanish Town that I am not related to. My dad (Lloyd Goldson) was born in Montego Bay to Sylvia Wilson and Baron Goldson. Baron Goldson married Gloria. They have several children, Noel Goldson (deceased, died in a car accident), Sonia Goldson, now Fletcher who resides in the US, Aloes Goldson who resides in the US and Alvin Goldson who is still presently in Jamaica. There was also one other brother Bucky Goldson who lived in the Bahamas or Barbados. He is now deceased. I recently bought a book from Amazon entitled the Goldson name in History. It states that the namm originated in Russia and that most of the Goldson's in the States migrated from Britain and Jamaica. There is another Dr Lloyd Goldson who lives in Kingston that I don't think I am related to. I also met a Goldson by the name of Katherina Goldson while at school. We didn't seem related. Cousins that I know I am related to with the name Goldson are Kim Goldson, Fidel Goldson, Devon Goldson and Rosemarie Goldson. Andrea

My knowledge of the name Goldson in my family anyway is that it is rooted in the 1800's in Toxteth Liverpool. Before this it is likley to have it's roots in Jewish immigrants from former Russia, or Poland or Germany....but no one has confirmned this

Best of Luck

Hi! My maiden name is Goldson and I traced that branch of the family back to Bialystock, Russia (now Poland) in the 1860s. My relatives immigrated to New York City and Chicago in the 1880s and were Jewish.

Hi John,
How are you? If you are Fidel's cousin then we may also be cousins as well. Where are you located. Are you in touch with any other of your cousins.
