I am a descendent of a John Haire that was born in North Carolina in 1809. He migrated to Georgia and showed up on the 1840 Census of Houston County Georgia. He married Eliza McGill who was born in North Carolina in 1819. He settled to Miller County, Georgia and died there in 1887. I am interested in the area call "Hairetown" located near Jonesborough. I don't know if he came from that area or not. Would love to hear from you about your people in that area.

Hi Gene,

My grandfather came to the US from Ireland with two brothers and a sister. They settled in PA. The family originated in Scotland. This is all I know, but in searching the Internet, I find a lot of Haires coming from Ireland. Hope this helps.
