Have been searching for the McElduff surname everywhere and it doesn't seem to come up. A known David McElduff was located in Horry County, South Carolina in the late 1700's, I am related to that line and would like any help on locating where in Scotland he is from. Have family lines that I would be willing to share.

I have just learned my Washington Co. VA DUFFs may have used the McElDuff, McIlDUFF surnames when they first arrived in Pennsylvania c. 1745---. If you have not looked in PA, they were there and in Fauquier Co. VA area in mid-1700's on. If you find they are the ones you are looking for, I might have connecting info. Will exchange data. Names in PA: Oliver, Samuel, James, Joseph, Cornelious, and others. Good luck and please do stay in touch.

I've received a written note on my great-grandparents marriage at St. Columkille's in Carrickmore, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. John McGarity and Sarah Ann Rafferty were married on August 13, 1875. Sponsors were Thomas Rice and John or Jane McElduff. John and Sarah were from Sluggan, a small town near Carrickmore. Does this "John or Jane McElduff" ring any bells for you?

I have been searching for a little while on my family history. What I know is that my great great grandfather was Francis M (we think his middle name was Mason) McElduff married to Alice Mobley in Fairfield County, South Carolina. His son Gail Simpson McElduff was born in Fairfield county, but moved to Mississippi where he met and married Lenora Brock. They settled in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, where my grandfather Frank Simpson and my dad Frank Dennis were born.

I have no information on Francis M's parents or anything. If anyone has information I would greatly appreciate it!

My McDuffs were from Straid, on the northwest edge of Carrickmore, Termonmguirk, Tyrone. They settled in Pawtucket RI in 1840's. Spelling variants in Termonmaquirk on church records, land records, census, etc include: Duff, McDuff, McElduff, McIlduff, McKilduff McGilduff and Mulduff. RI spellings include McDuff, McElduff and McAlduff. Common first names were Hugh, James, Terence, Edward, Hannah, Ann, Catherine... Connections?
