My name is Megan McKell Carson. My father is James Robert McKell and my grandfather is Charles Robert McKell. My grandfather grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah. I'm interested in finding any traces that anyone has to this line of the McKell family.

I also have a brother named Daniel... so I guess that makes three Daniel McKells.

Nice to hear from you. My McKell line originated in America with my g-g-grandfather William McKell, born in 1809, who arrived in America in 1830 and settled in Ohio. He was a son of James McKell and Margaret Jones McKell, who remained behind in Ulster. Both are buried in Portadown, Armagh. William had two brothers Thomas and Samuel and a sister Anne-Jane. I do not have any evidence that any others of the siblings came to America, although it is possible that offspring of either Thomas or Samuel emmigrated to Australia. If this is the same as "your line" I would love to correspond with you about any further details you might have on these McKells.

Hi Don,

I was thrilled to have a response to my posting. However after careful review, I don't think our lines connect. My great, great grandfather was Robert McKell (1823-1903) who came to America (actually landed in New Orleans) about 1850 from Scotland. His last name was originally McKail but he changed it due to the hazing he received. He crossed the plains in 1852 from Council Bluffs IA and settled in Utah. His first wife was Helen Whytock Moncur while in Scotland. He later married Elizabeth Boyack.

I have reviewed my records carefully and cannot track any of the names you supplied. I even checked out your own relatives on Ancestory to make sure. Nope, no matches that I can see. Wish it were otherwise since it would be nice to hook up with some McKell relatives.

Keep in touch if you find any links. I hope we both make some connection via this Board.

My wife's great grandparents are Agnes McKell b. abt 1884 and James Seeley.

I've got them in my family tree at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rjmorri...

Are they in the book?

Both James Robert and Charles Robert McKell are mentioned in the The History and Posterity of Robert and Elizabeth Boyack McKell (McKail) book.

Let me know how I may help you further.

Unfortunately neither Agnes McKell or James Seeley are mentioned in the The History and Posterity of Robert and Elizabeth Boyack McKell (McKail) book.

Hope you find additional information on your wife's great grandparents in the near future.

Thank you for the quick response.

My wife is 2nd cousin 1 time removed to Mickey Rooney aka Joe Yule Jr.

Her McKell line is shown on this page. http://www.dumbreck.co.uk/guest_family/francis_mckell_and_el...

Do any of these McKells show up in the book?

Neither Mickey Rooney or aka Joe Yule Jr. are in the book. The names in the book are basically the just the descendants of Robert and Elizabeth Boyack McKell.

Robert was from Scotland. From the web I have tracked about three + generations above but that could be iffy.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I did go to the site mentioned and didn't see any of those names in the book.

Good luck with your research. I know how difficult it can be to track relatives.

Hi there, I,m in Ireland and can find very few references to the name here. No idea about a family crest or family history. Any info you could give me about our name would be great.
