Crimean War General Orders

This is a review of newly available resources - I have recently discovered that the complete General Orders for the Army of the East 1853-56 are available on CD and are fully searchable - unlike previous facsimile hard copy prints which are exactly that, and they are not searchable of course. The 850-plus pages are on the CD in doc, pdf and rtf formats and contain hundreds of names of mainly officers. Several of my ancestors served in the war, so I had to have it of course. However, I suspect it is definitely worth a look for any family historians with Crimean War connections and Crimean War buffs in general.

Hello,

Is there anything about the 1st Royal Dragoons in that?

I have 2 relatives who were out there & one who was born in the Crimea!

Any info on the regiment will be a help as i cant trace the Man's birth.

On Robert Franklin's army discharge papers it states Canterbury, Kent but there is no record in the particular parish for him!

Thanks

Peter
