WWI Battle of Vittorio Veneto

WWI Battle of Vittorio Veneto

My grandfather fought in WWI and he had a military pin of the "Order of Vittorio Veneto". He told my father that he fought in the Alps. I have a photograph of him in uniform and it looks like he was in the Cappello Alpino uniform.

Could knowing this open any doors to finding his military records which could then help me find his birth info...?

I don't know where to begin...

Thank you!

I have one of those medals from my dad's line and have been looking for more information about where exactly he served. I do also have a certificate that appears to have been given along with the medal. I also know that my family was from the Avellino province and my grandfather and great grandfather received in the mail (to their homes in Italy at the time) a detailed record of their service from the Province of Avellino military office. I have them but can't translate them. My suggestion would be to find the closest office to their homes. It's a long shot but I know that's where mine came from.
