I've recently found the link to the General Register Office of Scotland website and thought you might all be interested in it. On the site you may search old Parish records, Statutory records, and census records of 1881, 1891, and 1901.
There is a charge of 6 GBP, which allows you to access 30 pages of information in 24 hours. Searching is free, but if something is accessed with the name you search, you pay to view the page. It's very easy to use, but I found some of my ancestors at a different Parish than my family records had them at, so sometimes it's best to search all parish records during a name search.
The website is located at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
( I found the link thanks to ScotlandOnline.com)

I have a general question that I hope you can read and maybe tell me where to find an answer.
My Dunns came to America before the rev. war from N. Ireland. someone in our group believes they came from Scotland and left there because of a linen tax. do you have any idea where I can go to find this answer? I don't know that much about the history of Scotland and thought someone there might know. Thanks, Roslyn
