Hello Amy; Unfortunately I don't think I can help you out much with the children of John and Sally Sitton, early pioneers of Callaway County MO. Will try to point you in a direction, however. Yes, indeed there was a John Sitton who married Sarah "Sallie" Jameson in Callaway County MO in 1825. He is also listed in the 1830 census of Callaway Co. MO on page 61. If you would like to view this page on your PC you will need a computer, Internet, and a GIF viewer (application). A GIF photo is a photo that has been compressed in a certain kind of format called GIF. A GIF viewer will decompress the photo and display it on the computer screen. A GIF viewer application that will also magnify would certainly help with reading these census pages. Anyhow, on the Internet, go to:www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/callaway/census/1830/
On the index of files, click on:
Scroll down a little past half way and you will notice the name of John Sitton between the entries of Samuel Jameson and Ezra B. Sitton. Upon final reading of this page, you will find out that the household of John Sitton has one male between the ages of 30-40, three females between the ages of 0-5 and one female between the age of 20-30 (presumably Sarah "Sally" Jameson who would have been about 27 at the time of this census).
Likewise, the 1840 census of Callaway County MO is also on the web and is located at:www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/callaway/census/1840/
However, I have not checked this index for John Sitton and family. The 1830 and 1840 census' do not list family members. This started with the1850 census which is not on the web but you might obtain through the LDS family history center. In addition, their might be someone at the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society in who would do this check.
If John Sitton is not located on future census' then there are some possibilities. He could have died, or moved to another county. About 1837, there were portions of Callaway County MO that were used to form Audrain County just to the north. He may have been living in a portion that was transferred at that time. This means you might find him in an Audrain County MO census.
Sorry I could not help you more. Good luck on you future research. Dan
