The French name Baudouin has never been changed; there are other variations as with Bowdoin, Baudoin, Baudin, Bowden, (some times) Bodin. It was however always the correct name Baudouin. The family who came to the British colonicl settlements in 1686 was Pierre C. Baudouin and it was this family who first used the name to Bowdoin. contact me if you have other questions at my e-mail address: sueannbee@aol.com

Hi...just so you have the correct name it was BAUDOUIN when the family came here in 1686. The son James BaudouinI changed the spelling to BOWDOIN. This is the correct spelling of the American branch of Baudouin. It was a royal line in England. If you want more on my family contact me at: sueannbee@aol.com

Yes, it was changed by Joseph Bauduin, who was born 1892, after his father "John" came over from Belgium. It is now "Bauduin"

You may not be on the website any longer, but "John Baudouin" came over from Belgium in 1887. His son "Joseph" changed it to "Bauduin". I think the other brothers changed it as well.

The name has been BAUDOUIN all the time the other is a miss spelling. The Baudouin name goes back to the first I found to 827 AD. I do have a new book out about the early Baudouin/Bowdoin families and the Royal connection. sueannbee@aol.com if you want a book.
