FTM 2014?

Has anyone upgraded to FTM 2014? I have FTM 2012 and am wondering what the benefits are in upgrading to the new version, if any?

Thanks for any insights.

One of the big benefits for though that have Win. 64 bit software and lots of memory is that FTM 2014 has a 64 bit client, which helps those with bigger databases.

I received my ship notice for the program. I'll let you know when it arrives. Hopefully speed is increased, unnecessary screen refreshes gone, handle more memory, etc. Preferred fact bug eliminated.

I talked to Cust. Serv. this morning and they told me electronic downloads for an upgrade were being released either late last night, or first thing this morning. They said I would receive an email with directions for download. So far, nothing.

If you purchase and install, 2 things:

One, it will not remove FTM 2012 right - I would want to hold on to that for awhile to see how the new one goes.
Two, when you say "it has a 64 bit client", is this auto activated at installation when it detects Win7 64bit, or is that something extra that you have to do?

Thanks and really thanks for the quick feedback to my message.

Yes ftm 2012 stays but once you convert the database ftm 2012 wont be able to open it. Unless you export it back from ftm 2014 to ftm 2012, but in that case will lose the sync if I remember right. Yes it will automaticly install the 64 client if you have 64 bit windows. If 64 bit your client # will be 1207 where the 32 bit will be a 3 digit number.

Try setting up a same sex marriage with children, then check out the different reports and charts.

Some people will be happy!

Be careful when opening a 2012 file as it will get converted to 2014. There is a check box that you need to be sure to make a NEW copy and not convert in place the current file.

Bottom line I think it is worth the money spent!
