My ggrandfather was born in Ozark Co. Missouri. His name was Ben WELCH. His parents were Eli William WELCH and Sally Jane BASS. I found his parents listed on the 1900 census, Ben was then 1 years old. I looked for his father in the 1880 census and could not find an Eli Welch, but found a William Welch who was two years old, as my ggrandfather would have been. His parents were listed as George and Nancy Welch. I believe Nancy's maiden name may have been STONE or SLONE. Then in 1870 census I found George and Nancy listed with his parents, Malinda? and Isam? Welch. Is anyone researching this line? Could Eli and William be the same person. If you can confirm or deny please let me know.

I believe that your Eli William Welch is a brother of my gr-gr-grandmother, Nancy Ann Welch, and son of Amos Welch And Sarah Snelson. My records show him married ca 1880 to a Ceily/Sealy J. His birth is listed as ca 1854. Eli and wife can be found on the 1900 Census for Marion Co., Arkansas. If you feel this is the correct Eli than I have additional info. as well as photocopies of pictures of Eli and family. I also have one of the family of an Ada Bass (any idea who she is?) and her husband Francis Marion Welch. If you do not think this is your Eli I do have another possibility.
