A cousin Edward Lavery emigrated from Belfast to Winnipeg in 1904 He helped James Build his first home and ready it for James new Bride Mary Gordon whom James wed 5 Nov 1905. Edward was 42 in 1906. But this is all that I know about the Lavery family.

James Lavery II and Mary Gordon had four Daughters and one son in Winnipeg All of whom are now deceased and were known quite well by me.

I am the wife of Mary Jane Gordon Lavery McDowell’s Son, Gordon McDowell. My Name is Diane.

Hi

I don't know if this may help - but it may be worth checking out. On the 1911 Census found a Joseph Lavery in County Down 79 Castlereagh St Ormeau. Now please note his children born in Belfast. Now I checked this same family out on the 1901 Census and found an Annie Lavery dau age 23 living with them. Could this be your family....? I am not totally sure how Ireland county - capitals work but I believe Belfast is on the border of County Down and is the capital city of both County Down and County Antrim.
Anyway I have listed information below but you can check it out yourself at "The National Archives of Ireland" site.

Cheers
Tania

Thank you! This is the exact family we have been discussing above. It is the only family that comes close to a match..The housing number in 1911 is actually 93 if you look at forms B and N...anyway..it isn't a perfect match..but it is the only close one! Blessings! Diane

And this is the part that has me baffled. James emigrated to first New York, Then Manchester Conn, and on to his final destination of Winnipeg Manitoba where he married raised a family and died. His sister Annie followed Him in 1910 via the same route. James said two siblings one boy and one girl went to Australia...An Agnes Emily Lavery emigrated to Australia but this family calls their young Agnes......... Agnes Josephine...Finally IF Gerald Leo ended up in Australia after 1934 or around that time..so that James Obituary is correct..Then I am closer to a match. Diane
