Mysterious Thomas Sloan - Cycle and Motor Agent

Good evening,

I am struggling to source any information on one of my ancestors and was hoping someone would be able to send me some advice.

Thomas Sloan was born in 1870 in Armagh, Ireland. His parents were Thomas Sloan and Margaret Ann Rutledge. The only other piece of information I have about him is a photograph of him standing outside his shop 'T.Sloan Cycle and Motor Agent'. I believe the photograph to have been taken in around 1904. My mother seemed to think the shop was in Scotland (his brother, Joseph Rutledge Sloan had emmigrated to Kirkcaldy, Fife and she seemed to think his brother Thomas had as well) however I can find no evidence in the Scottish records that Thomas was indeed in Scotland. The shop might be in Kirkcaldy or may be in Ireland.

Is anyone able to advise?

Thank you,
Kind regards,
Claire

www.familysearch.org is a good resource for Scotland as good as the Scotland pay website. Records to about 1950.
