Here's a weird question I bet you hardly ever get. My great grandfather's brother emigrated in 1879 to U.S. and by 1883 was back in Czechoslovakia getting married. Where can I find passport information and/or passenger list BACK to Czechoslovakia?

From every thing that I read, that they do not have records when people left the USA....only coming to the USA. I have the same issue, relatives that left after a wife died to go get another home town girl. I was told that you have to go to the country that they are entering to get that information. Good Luck!

Was your ancestor from present "Slovak Republic"? Maybe if I knew a surname, I might be able to help.

You might want to post on Czech Republic's board. Do you have a location?

In CZ's phone book:

In Slovak Republic:

Thanks, I have accessed the phone directory and have written to the Kantoriks there. The location would be Osek, okres Rokycany, near Plzen.

my ancestors were from Italy. I was told that I have to go to the Italian government and look to see if they kept any records of people coming into their country..... just like the USA keeps these records of people coming in ... but not going out..

Thanks....
