Subject: Louisa Frederici Cody, St. Louis, Mo.

I am trying to find out how I am related to Louisa Frederici - wife of
Buffalo Bill Cody. Louisa's autobiography: "Memoirs of Buffalo Bill By His
Wife" Louisa Frederici Cody, D. Appleton, 1919. This is what I know about
Louisa Frederici and her family.

Her father was John Francis Frederici born19 Nov. 1817
(His parents: Cristopher Frederitzi (as it was sp. then) married Anne
Elizabeth Hennisienne Feb. 26, 1816. They had several children, all born in
Alsace Lorraine, France. They sailed on the BOLIVAR from Havre, France -
Landed in New Orleans 22 July 1833,settled in "Frenchtown" St. Louis) They
purchased teams and wagons and traveled west. John, then about 15 often told
of the trip westward and of walking behind the wagons.

John Francis Frederici Married 1840, Marguerita(Smith)Frederici of St.Louis.

Their children were:

Christopher Columbus born 1842, St. Louis, MO. died ca 1910.

Louisa, born May 27, 1844, St. Louis Mo. m. Wm.F. Cody March 6,
1866 in her home at 11:00 am. Louisa and Bill are both buried in a tomb on
Lookout Mountain, Co outside of Denver.

Elizabeth, b 1846, m MR. Flint. They had three children. Two boys and one
girl daughter, Orra, never
married. Flint was killed while working on the railroad out of St. Louis.
Elizabeth and children moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she became a
dressmaker. Eliazbeth d in L. A. about 1936 or 1937 Daughter taught school
in L.A. until she retired. Orra lived to be in her ninties.

Francis John (Frank) m married Mary Elizabeth Buck. Francis John b Oct. 28,
1856 m Mary Elizabeth Buck
d Jan. 11, 1923 in North Platte, NE.

Louisa had a cousin in St. Louis named Will McDonald. I need to find the
missing link to :

1) My great grandmother's married name was Irene Felten (Felton? VonFelton?)
of St. Louis. I want to find out her maiden name.

2) My grandmother was Emily Felten Lodes, buried Cavalry Cementary, 1961 -
All Soul's Church, Overland, Mo.

I would appreciate any help you can give me!

Sincerely,

Hi Dennis and Barb, Guess I missed a reply somewhere down the line....nope, no Frederici's in my line, but neat to see that Barb and I are using the same server in Manhattan!
You folks are the only replies I've gotten to the "family" query..quess none of my Webb/Foster family is left in St. Louis...or maybe (hopefully) not on-line yet. Good luck with the research on ole Buff Bill and Louisa.

Hello, Dennis

I just came across your message. My great grandparents, Frank Nouss and Mary Urich, always went to the beer garden with the Cody's when they came to St.Louis. Frank Nouss was from Alsace-Lorraine and Mary Urich from Switzerland. Family legend claims a relationship with Louisa Frederici. A distant Nouss cousin in St. Louis claims Louisa was a cousin of Mary Urich but I've been unable to find any connection so far. If you have those names in your family history knowledge, I'd appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks.

Surnames: Hogan, Walsh, McDonald
According to my family history, my father's paternal grandmother, Margaret Hogan nee Walsh was somehow related to Louisa Frederici through her brother, Michael J. Walsh. He was married to a Katherine maiden name unknown. She was supposedly directly related to Louisa. These people I have mentioned were all from St. Louis, MO. One note, Michel J and Margaret Walsh's mother's maiden name was McDonald.
