I am searching for information on the families of William Greer Harrison, m. Sylvia Lula Wilkinson, who lived in the Round Rock or Corn Hill area in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Also the family of William Loraine Woods and his first wife Cossa King and second wife Mary Emma Rose, who lived in the same areas about the same time.

Dear Trudy:

I am researching the Woods family you mentioned in your query of March 1999. (I hope you are still at the same e-mail address)! This is the family of William Loraine Woods with his first wife (Cossa King) and Mary Rose (Wm's 2nd wife).

William L. Woods was the oldest half-brother of my friend's grandfather, Louis F. Woods, and he is interested in connecting with other descendants of the family. William was born in the Selma area (AL), and some of the family moved to Texas. Most stayed in AL. I have some information on his children, through one of the cousins, who has done much research.

Are you a descendant of this family? Hope to communicate further!

I'm a direct descendent of William Loraine Woods and his second wife, Mary Emma Rose.

My line went from them through Matilda Catherine Woods (m. John Edward Hall Sr.) to Henry Palm Hall (m. Bessie Marie Wells) to Charles Henry Hall (m. Lana Sue Hard) to me.

I seem to have run into a wall trying to trace further back through Mary Emma Rose. I know her grandfather was Robert Paine and he served in the 27th Virginia, Company A in the Civil War, but I have not yet found her parents.

Hi Casey:

I'm not working on the Woods family at the moment and the person I did this for seems to be only mildly interested in connecting with others. However, if you send me your message in an email, I'll forward and see if we can get a dialogue going.

A little help, I'm not related! Mary Rose Woods death certificate online https://familysearch.org/ (22 Feb 1863 - 15 Feb 1947). Parents: Henry Bates Rose (6 Mar 1825 - 18 May 1905) and Matilda (Paine) Rose (31 Jan 1832 - 14 Jan 1911). Per 1900 census, Rev Henry B. Rose/Matilda were parents of five surviving children. Including Mary, all four daughters have online death certificates. Did not search for son, Henry born ca. 1859. Henry B. Rose wed Matilda F. Paine, 23 Apr 1856 in Rockbridge, VA.

I'm on a "roll"! Findagrave memorial for James Henry Hoback (28 Oct 1861 - 30 Sep 1930) in Wythe, VA. There's an obit list survivors: brother Frank H.
