village of KUDUKI

Surnames: KUDUK, TABAKA
I am open for any suggestions here.
I just found a very tiny village named KUDUKI in the Sokolow Malopolski area of Poland. It is ony a few km north of the three villages where I am researching (Wolka Sokolowska, Wolka Niedzwiedzka, and Brzoza Krolewska).

My paternal great-grandmother's name was Catherine (Katarzyna) KUDUK. There are many KUDUKs in my family (distant cousins marrying back into the TABAKA family). There are many Kuduk's still in these villages in Poland.

I was told that the word Kuduk or Kuduki has no meaning in Polish, so I was wondering if there is any way to find out if there is a connection between my family name and the name of the tiny village. Maybe the family once owned the land, or were community leaders or something neat like that. I'd love to try to find out how the village got it's name. Any ideas where to begin?

Surnames: Kud, Kudacki, Kuduk, Kudaj
The in the Polish surname book, the surname KUDUK is from "Kud" which means to "ruin, devastate". In 1990 there were the following number of families in Poland with the surname: Kud (356), Kudacki (9), Kuduk (343) and Kudaj (286).

Hope this is what you where looking for?
