Am looking for information on my gr.gr.grandfather, Valentine Ries. His naturalization papers show he was from Baden. He was naturalized in Chicago IL USA in 1854 at 27 years(?) old. The witnesses were Stephen and John Ries. That's all we know except he married a woman named Constance(?) and had 6 children. Thanks, Carol

On searching rootsweb, I found a Valentine Ries born est 1777-1820, son of Elizabeth Dauwen and Johann Ries.

I don't know if this helps.

By the way, I am searching for a Mary Ries, born Oct 2, 1844, immigrated to Iowa in 1860. Died Sept 26, 1927 Iowa. I want to find out who her parents were. Did you see anything in your search??

Oh, by the way, she was supposed to be from Bafert, Germany. I can't find a Bafert Germany...does anyone have any ideas??

By the way, my husband's relative is Nicholas Ries, who would have been Valentine's brother, if this is really the corrent valentine...

It all get a bit confusing.
