THANK YOU !! for taking the time to delve into this much further than I could. I'm a Vietnam military researcher, and Chester Statun's name was inadvertently missed when the Memorial Wall was erected. Our research team has submitted the documentation to get his name inscribed - and we've been trying to locate anyone in his extended family to notify them of this.

You show a daughter - Bettie/1936. She (may) still be alive and will search both Statum/Statem surnames.

Your help was greatly appreciated.

Hi Allyson....I need your help. I had gotten in the letter from DoD that authorized Chesters name to be etched on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in DC, but there's a problem. It deals with his military documents that list StatUn (including his grave marker) - but at least one sister (Joy Marie) wanted it spelled on the Wall as StatEn. My file also shows another relative wanted it etched with an M at the end rather than an N. The end result is that his name was NOT etched in 2014, and we're getting very close to the deadline for a 2015 etching.

The Pentagon needs a consensus amongst the family, and a "lead' person to definitively make the decision as to how they want the name etched. If you can email me at bruceswander (at) hotmail (dot) com, I can provide more info and what/how it needs to be done.
