Surnames: Van Kampen, Koopman, Kiewiet
Trying to find information on Jan VAN KAMPEN, b. 1863 Westerwijtwert Groningen. He immigrated to the US in 1880's. His father, also born in Westerwijtwert was Kornelis VAN KAMPEN, son of Geert Jans VAN KAMPEN. Any information on the above is more than welcome. I have many descendants, yet am looking for more precise early family history.

I think Kornelis is my great great grandpa. I think you have more information than I do because I did't have the name of Kornelis' father. My grandfather was Henry Van Kampen--born in Michigan around 1894--married to Gezina (Grace) Schortinghuis.

Marriage Henry:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FCJM-81V
Parents named as Jno. Vankampen and ...iend Larkins.

Marriage brother Cornelis:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FCC9-7C9
Parents named as Jno. Vankampen and Bowina Larkens

That brings me to the 1900 census:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MS9V-91W

Date of birth of John: Mar 1863, Holland
Date of birth of Bowina: May 1860, Holland

And their marriage:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FCYL-V5J
Names are badly transcribed, but is is them.

So now we have a birth month and year for them both.

And that brings me to the following:

Jan van Kampen
Born Westerwijdwerd (province of Groningen) 03 Mar 1863 at 13.00 hrs
Son of Kornelis van Kampen and Jantje Hendriks Kiewiet

Bouke Larkens (female)
Born Bierum (province of Groningen) 16 May 1860 at 22.00 hrs
Daughter of Henderika Larkens, father not mentioned

Do you need to get back further in time?

Kind regards,
Marianne

Yes, this is my line. I looks as though we're the same generation. Kornelis was also my g-g-grandfather. My grandfather was Albert, the brother of your Henry VK.

I've quite a bit of information on our Van Kampen line, going back to before 1710. I'm not sure what you have or how far you're wanting to go, but I'd be happy to swap information with you.

Are you by chance the child of Jean VK?

If you'd like, we can email off the website. You can reach me at gvankampen@aol.com

My computer is acting strange, so if you've already received this ... my apologies.

Marianne, Are you also in this family lineage?

Thanks,
Gregg VK
