Just browsing and found your question...do you know where/Parish/Townland in Co. Derry your Cairns were from.

Feeny/Furey from Co. Derry around the same time frame. Cannot find Parish/Townland. Family buried Huntingdon/Ormstown Catholic Cemeteries.

Thank you Ron, I will look at the Names in that Town.

What I am seeing is that most of the Irish in and around Huntingdon/Ormstown came from Co. Derry. That is stated on a lot of the Tombstones. I've even been to PRONI in Belfast to try and find our Feeny/Fury family they told me we came out too early (1821)for them to have good records. I would have had a better chance if they came out in the Famine years.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kathleen

Yes the early records are sparce. There was a great fire in the Ormstown are where many of the records were kept. Some what like the fire that destroyed many records in Ireland in 1917. I have been searching since the early 80's my letter mail. I think I have come to the hard part now. Thats ok I keep on looking. I will keep an eye open for your names also. The Union Cemetery is where my ancestors are interned. My sisters and I spend a sunny afternoon there last August. I said to my sisters, it was nice to spend an afternoon where our forefathers walked, and lay. Thank you for your time and e-mails, Ron

I got a little sidetracked...started my husband's family in Boston...just finished finding what I needed this past week.

Now I'm ready to go back and do the Feeny/Fury family, don't know if I'll get up to Huntingdon this year.
But, you never stop looking. Fantastic hobby/obsession!!
