Hello Douglas,

My friend is a Keans from Milton, NS. Here is the info she has on the Keans name at this time.

William F. Keans 1874-1934 (her great great grandfather)
married
Hattie Nauldrett 1874-1961

William and Hattie had nine children
Lottie Keans 1894-
Florence Keans 1895-
Mabel Keans 1897-
Hattie Keans 1898-
William Keans 1899-
John Keans 1901-
Frank Webber Keans 1904-
Donald Roland (or Ronald) Keans 1914-1977 (her grandfather)
C. Keans

My friend's father recalls a son who moved away to the States
and swore he never would return. The family lost track of him.
Her father knows his name, but I can't remember it right now.
He is unsure who 'C. Keans' is, unless it is the 'lost brother'.

Donald Roland Keans married Ruth Murley.
They had two daughters who died in infancy, and one son,
Donald Roland 'Sonny' Keans, born 1947 in Liverpool (my friend's father).

My friend recalls that when she was young her father was contacted
by a woman from New England who wanted information on the family.
She was related to the hockey player Doug Keans who played for the
Boston Bruins. She apparently sent a family tree to my friend's
father, showing how they were related, but unfortunately this tree
has been lost.

As for the name Braine, there was a Bill Braine who just recently
passed away. He never married and had no children that we know of.
He had two sisters, Norma and Margaret. Norma married once or twice,
unsure of who. Margaret married Doug Wolfe. Doug, Norma and Margaret
ran a successful store in Sandy Cove for years (my friend worked with
them for a time). We are uncertain of Bill, Norma and Margaret's
father's first name. There mother was one of the daughters of William
F. Keans and Hattie Nauldrett - possibly Lottie. My friend's father
knows for certain. We will check the info with him, and pass it along
to you, if you so desire.

Hope that you find some of this information helpful. If you can add
anything to what we have here, please let us know. We would be very
appreciative. We are especially interested in any information about
William F. Keans (1874-1934). What we have on the Keans' stops at him.

I have a Charles Kean married to an Ann Byrne, her mother Mary Byrne was married to an Andrew McMinn around 1834/5 time frame. Ann Byrne KEAN and her mother Mary sold water lot on the Halifax side of the harbour in the north suburbs to Henry Moseley. Anny Byrne KEAN and her husband Chaarles KEAN lived on the property left to her by her step-father Andrew McMINN on the north west corner of King and Ochterloney Streets in Dartmouth and is shown on the 188 town of Dartmouth map. In the 1890's the property was sold to Thomas Gentles.
Hope this is some help to you.
