I would like to make a correction on the Pendergast who married Winifred Healey. His name was Michael, not Thomas. Michael Pendergast married Winifred Healey in Galway in about 1840. They had a son Martin. Winifred died and Michael and Martin and possibly other family emigrated during the late 1840's and eventually settled in western Maryland in Garrett County. In 1855 Michael married Mary Mullarkey from Dunmore, Galway and they had two sons, Thomas and Michael.

Winifred, Michael, Mary, John and Dennis Healey

Hi Lois, I read your post hoping to find a connection to my Pendergast line -unfortunately, mine were from Kilkenny. But I do have an ancestor named Mary Mullarkey from Dunmore! She married Martin Ronan/Ronayne c1840 in the town of Gortnalea. I've been told by others that all Mullarkeys in that area are related in some way so thought I'd see if you had any new info? I'm thinking they could be cousins, aunt/niece? Thanks, Maryann

Hi Lois,

Regarding Michael Pendergast of Ross Village, Co. Galway,
I recently came across the name "Mark Prendergast" in the
entries made by Nicholas Martin of Ross Estate, Rosscahill
for 1813. He is shown in brackets with John Leonard and
Peter Higgins.

Is is likely that Mark Prendergast of Doone was the father
of Michael who emigrated to the US?

When recording Rosscahill, Nicholas Martin recorded as:
"Rosscahill North" and " Rosscahill South". In the mapping
of the Country some years later "Rosscahill" became East and West!

Regards,

Jim
