I have family from Sorn. Namely the McQueens, the Kirklands, and the McGies. Are these families your group also. If they are can we exchange information.

these are all descendants from the Sorn area between 1700-1850's.

# 6M JAMES CALDOW b. 23 Feb. 1810, Stewarton, Ayr, foundry worker, son of ADAM CALDOW and ELIZABETH SMITH CALDOW, married 18 June, 1841, Dunlop, Ayr, and 5 Jun 1841 Beith to JEAN (JANE) Millar (Miller) b. Maybole, Ayr, had 8 children all born Kilwinning, Ayr.

Good news! Jean was the sixth child born to Hugh Miller and susanna Duncan. Our ancestor was the first born; James c 29 Nov 1772 also at Scroggs. We have 10 children born. Father Hugh was born 20 sept 1741 at Newton and buried in the Mauchlin churchyard in 1814. He was married on 13 sept 1771 in Mauchlin to Susanna Duncan. Hugh's father was James Millar and Elizabeth Smith who were married 10 Dec 1735 at Sorn. They had 7 children; Margaret b 1737, John b 1738, Hugh b1741,Alexander b1743, Mary b 1746, william b 1750 and James b 1751. Elizabeth was born to John Smith and Mary Shaw at Riccarton on 24 Nov 1714. John and Mary were married Jun 1670 at Riccarton.

Am related to the Sorn Bairds of South Blairkip Farm,Sorn.
quite a large family .. Aslo farmed at Coplar in the 1700s and 1800s

I have some of this South Blairkip family on my listings, I am interested in Ramage and Caldow who both married into the Baird family. I am searching for Kirklands in Sorn. It appears my line goes back to Marion McGee (christened 1743 Sorn) and Hugh KIRKLAND 1742-1786. Their son James KIRKLAND emigrated from Sorn to Kalamazoo, MI. in 1834. James' wife was Ann McCracken
