Perkins family of Cape Porpoise- Milk Island granite quarry

Dear York County List,

I am looking for info regarding Thomas Perkins who owned Milk Island off Cape Porpoise. He sold the property in 1835 and I am wondering if the quarrying continued after that on the island and when it might of actually started on Milk Island? I have been researching at the local museums, historical societies and libraries but have hit a brick wall as too the beginning of the quarrying on Milk Island.

I am thinking that it might be listed in one of the Perkins genealogical records or family bibles.

I know that Kennenbunkport was quite busy with quarrying the granite at around the same time in four different quarries in the town, as well as Wells and Arundel.

Any leads would be very helpful. Thank you so much for any help sent my way. Dorothea http://www.stonecuttersonline.org
