Peacock - Rockford, IL, 1880s

Surnames: PEACOCK, HAMMOND
I located a copy of the 1880 Census Record for Jonathan PEACOCK and his family. He was the founder of the Peacock Brewery.

The census record listed his age as 59, married to Eliza (HAMMOND) PEACOCK, age 48. He was shown as the owner/master brewer. Eliza was shown as Keeping House.

At the time, the following children were also listed: Edwin H. PEACOCK (22), James PEACOCK (19), Charles PEACOCK (14), Frances PEACOCK (10), Olive PEACOCK (9). James and Charles were listed as workers in the Brewery, and the other children were enrolled in school.

The census shows Jonathan and Eliza were both born in England, but all the children were born in Illinois. Have not been able to locate the family on either the 1870 or the 1900 census.

Has anybody out there run across this family ???

OK ... I recognize that line.

You are the youngest of four children (that I know of) born to Robert Winfield and Marilyn Helen SWICK (PEACOCK).

Your mother was the second child born to Earl Douglas and Ola Helen PEACOCK (McBARNES).

We need to trade dates and additional information. You can reach me directly ---> surwilmj(at)cableone(dot)net

Hi,
I'm also researching this family, Jonathan was brother to my 4th great grandfather, George Peacock. I thought it was interesting that Jonathan had two sons named Edwin and James as those same names show up again in more recent years in my Peacock line. I would be happy to trade information with both of you.

My mother's father, Edward Ryan, and Earl D. Peacock were 1/2 brothers. They had the same mother, Martha. Martha and Jonathon Peacock later divorced. As you know, Jonathon had the brewery in Rockford.

I have some college papers and postcards from 1909 that Earl sent to his mother. He went to St. Mary's College in Kansas. If you'd like to talk further, please e-mail me at pgirardi@mchsi.com
