I am looking for information on an Isaac Batten (b.April 1851, Bareneed) who married Rachael Boone (b. October 1858). They had at least three children, namely, (1) Benjamin, (2) Mary Fanny who married Abram Batten, and (3) Isaac Batten. As far as I can tell, Isaac Batten (Sr . b. 1851) had at least one sister, namely, Sarah Jane Batten (b. 1848) who married an Isaac Dawe (b. 1847). Sarah Jane Batten and Isaac Dawe settled in Long Pond, Conception Bay South. Any connections to Isaac Dawe and Sarah Jane Batten greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for a Isaac Batten (Sept. 1883)from Barneed (Dock) who married Jessie Elizabeth Snow (Jan 1879) of Clarke's Beach. Isaac's father was John Thomas Batten married to Elizabeth Victoria Snow of Clarke's Beach. Would you know where I could find their birth dates and date of death and if they had family members?

Hi Melvin...well the only familiar name is Isaac from Bareneed. My problem is that I have no idea who Isaac's parents were. From what our great Aunt has sent me, Issac was married to a Elizabeth Dore or Dawe? They bought a house at Bareneed abt. 1816 and it seems they started their family soon after. From where they came I don't know. I'm thinking from somewhere else on the Island but that's just a guess..Their family was established and they stayed and made roots. It seems to be from the data this Aunt sent , that she could be missing a generation and there was another Isaac in between. A son of the first mentioned Isaac that was an Isaac? I do know that one of these Isaac's had a son Joseph and he had a son Isaac who is my husbands grandfather. Isaac migrated to Glace Bay as a young man and married and settled there until his death...Boy confusing or what? But, going on the dates I have , I really think she missed a generation in there somehwhere. Are we connected do you think?

Hi I just came across your reply to Yvonne, about the Snow's of Clarkes Beach. My great grand mother was from Clarkes Beach her name was Sarah (Snow) Pottle born Sept 1846. I was in contact with a woman by the name of Susan N. she has a sister by the name of Yvonne, their mother is Druscella Jean, I just found out we are related.
Do you have a Sarah in your info on the Snow's ? and do you know if this Yvonne's e-maill address or can you contact her to see if she is the right Yvonne ?

Hi Irene
I checked my files and I don't have a Yvonne Snow in my records. I do have a Susan Bertha Snow but she was the daughter of Lloyd Snow from Clarke's Beach and Evelyn Jean Bennett from Bell Island. As far as I know this couple didn't have a daughter named Yvonne. Sorry I couldn't help you but I'll keep my eyes open for any mention of these names you listed in your email. Good luck.

It's interesting how the names get recycled from one generation to the next. My grandfather was Abram Batten (b 1913), son of James (b 1883) from Foxtrap, and he had a sister Sarah Jane b. 1915, who married a Bussey.

James' parents were Samuel and Rachel (I think). I know the family originally came from the north side of the bay, but I can't seem to trace any farther back than Samuel.

I'd love to hear from anyone who might have more info. Thanks.
