Doing some research on the Bottner line. My great-grandmother was Ida Caroline Bottner, born 10 Dec 1889 in Chicago. I know that her father's name was Charles (maybe Karl?) and that he was supposedly born in Germany. In the 1880 census online (see www.familysearch.org), I found a Charles Bottner living in Hanover, Lake, Indiana, with father George and mother Margaretta, who I then found as Karl Bottner, Birth: 10 JUL 1863, Christening: 26 JUL 1863 Evangelisch, Lachen-Speyerdorf, Pfalz, Bayern, to Georg Bottner and Margaretha Theobald Bottner.

Anyone have any idea if this Karl/Charles might have been the parent of Ida Caroline?? I know that her siblings were Dora and Charles Enders Bottner.

As it turns out, her name WAS spelled BOETTNER--my grandmother (her daughter) had it spelled wrong all these years! Looks like it was Ida Carolina Boettner.

Her family may have been from Pennsylvania, as my great-grandfather's family (WALDRON) was from the Arnot, Tioga, PA area.
