Frank Cray - NJ around 1880-19??

I am looking for any information on a man named Frank Cray who lived in New Jersey / New York / ?? in the late 19th century into the first half of the 20th. Apparently he is my great-grandfather. The reason we have no information on him is because my great-grandmother (Anna Hemmhauser) remarried and also changed the name of her daugter (my grandmother) to match that of her new husband; this was only discovered recently. Does anyone have any information on this individual?

I have a little more info in case this helps anyone -- Frank's siblings were Cornelius and Mildred Cray. I have found a Social Security Death Index record for Cornelius but not Frank -- I know he was in the service at the time of WWI and I wonder if he was killed in action -- ? Any info appreciated.

Hello Lydia,

In addition to replying to your message I also sent it directly to you via email.

I would be very excited indeed if Frank is your Great Uncle! Every once in a while I have new information about him and his relatives; here is what I have currently:

Frank's siblings were indeed Cornelius and Mildred. Mildred's married name is Rustum. She was born on 14 Apr 1909 and died on 9 Jul 1996. Her social security number as listed in the SSDI was 135-36-6079.

Their parents, according to Cornelius' Social Security application, were John V. Cray and Margaret King. Cornelius was born in Bound Brook, NJ.

Frank and my G-Grandmother, Anna Hemhauser, were in fact never married; Anna instead married a man by the name of Herman Rosenkranz in 1913, according to one marriage licence we found recently. Seeing as that my grandmother (Nana) Florence was born in 1914, this was quite a bad scene, as you can well imagine. Sadly Nana passed away just weeks ago, on May 3, and we have uncovered a lot of new information but nothing new on the Crays. Florence was indeed baptized Florence Cornelia Cray but was led to believe that Herman was her father, which she continued to do until age 52 when she discovered her birth certificate indicating Frank Cray as her father (her mother raised her as Florence Rozenkranz).

I hope this information produces a match. Please let me know any other Cray information you may have in case there is some match here or otherwise!!

I found a really old post by you regarding Frank Cray from New Jersey. He was my grandfather. He did have a sister Mildred Cray Rustum and a brother Cornelius. He lived in New Castle, Pa and died in 1956 from a heart attack. Don't know whether this is still relevant to you or not. I do have other info and my family tree is named Lucas.

Scot, I found this old post and not sure you need info still. Frank Cray was my grandfather, siblings Cornelius, William, Grover, Harold, Mildred (Rustum) and Susan Ann. He was born in 1890 in Skillman New Jersey and died in New Castle Pa in 1956. I would appreciate any info you have to share.

Thanks,
Sheila Cray Lucas
