Does anyone know the orgin or the meaning of "Dausin"? My great great grandfather who arrived in New York, early 1900, came from Poland, but, this is not a polish name.

The name Dausin is the female form of the German name Daus. My maternal grandfather was named Daus and came from West Prussia which is now in Poland.

Hallo!

It´s a german name with the root "Daus".

In the last two centuries some parts of Poland often changed between Poland and Germany till the end of the second world war in 1945. So the population was mixed. Also the writing-style of the name changed. Today we know the kind "Dausin" and "Dausien". Even brother and sister write there name different in the same family.

My great great father was born in 1872 in Graudenz (german)/today: Grudziądz (polish), he was a master upholsterer. His father was born 1840 in Klein Ellernitz/Westpreußen (german) /today: Lniska (polish).

If you wish more informations, please write me an email. If you have informations about your great great father I´m also interested.
