I can only trace my husbands family to Joseph John Janca bron 1871. He married Maria Anna Adameck. I know they came from Bohemia but I can't find any more information than that. I do know his father's name was John but not his mothers name or when they came to the states. Can you help me?

I seem to have Janca's more than once in my family history. My 3g grandfather, Jakub Koliba (b1800 in Mnisi, Moravia, Czech) was married to a Mariana Janca (b:1796, daughter of Kaspar Janca) Does this have any connection to your Janca's?

I will forward this on to my cousin who seems to know a bit more of our history. I know my Grandparents Antoinette and Frank Janca originally came from Czech...Keep me posted as I will you.

Surnames: Janca, Nemecek, Cihlar, Flaska, Klobasa, Prosek, Pelesek, Duchka, maybe Misek, Karas, Houdek, Bures, Vizinger
Hi,
The names you listed for your family seem familiar. I don't know if there is a relation, but I come across those names in my research. I think they may be distant cousins of my grandfather John Janca. Do you have a specific place of origin in Cz? Who was the immigrant and when did they come?

Thank you for your posting. Please e-mail me directly at ghrdlicka@yahoo.com.

The Janca that I am researching settled in Ohio, outside of Cleveland. Are yours from that area? I will reply this evening after checking the info that I have.

The ones I know of went to Chicago, but that doesn't mean others didn't go to Ohio. Do you have the area or towns in Cz they came from? I have several naturalizations for Janca from the Great Lakes archives. I will be going out of town shortly for a couple of days, but when I return I can tell you what names I have papers for.
