Jesse Mangum was my gg grandfather. I have Jesse's wife as Mary Polly Parish and most of the descendents. We also have Jesse's grandson's (Samuel Thomas Mangum) family Bible. I've been trying to determine Jesse's Parents. I've found Samuel Mangum and Jemimah Brinkley and also Arthur Mangum , Jr., and Dicey Carrington. I also see that you are researching Puryear and Stovall lines also. I also have Puryear info from marriages into the Farrar and Royster lines that I am researching also. I would love to exchange information with you.
Regards
George

Their son Louis Ellis Humphries m.Daisy Christensen.Their son Bert is my husbands father. Your right I am researching Puryear and Stovall. I have found wonderful information on these families. George,
I read with interest your posting of the Arthur Mangum and Dicey Carrington. In it you listed a Ferrar, too.
I am descended from a John Carrington Mangham, whose parents are Thomas Mangham and Henrietta Carrington. John Carrington Mangham married Hannah Pharoah (Ferrar). I would like to exchange information with you, as there may be a kinship.
Please e-mail me at pitt.pittman@worldnet.att.net

Where can I contact Dr. John T. Palmer? I understood that he lives in Santa Rosa, California, is that true?
Is this the same Dr. Palmer that wrote a book entitled The Mangums of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Utah, and Adjoining Staes? Do you know where I can purchase a copy of this book? My father, Thomas Scott Mangum, Sr. was from Pulaski, Mississippi in Scott County. My address is 2 Prairie Rose Lane, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. I would sincerely appreciate hearing from you or any other members of the family.

Yes, Dr. John T. Palmer, Phd has written
three books on the history of the Mangum
ancestors. His E-mail address is at the
library of the University where he teaches
psychology. I left messages on the board for
him and have not gotten a reply, as he has
not been on the site since 10-10-00. I hope
to see him this saturday at the Mangum Clan
Reunion in Magee, MS. I have his address and
telephone # but will ask him to get in touch
with you, as he may not want his address listed on the message board. He has been doing this for about 20 years and has a lot
of geneology on the Mangum Family. I have a
copy of his first book, from ten years ago.
I sent him a check for $35.00 and it was worth every penny of it, as the info was so
good and detailed in linking my family tree.
Hope you many happy hours of searching for
your family roots!!! It is a lot of fun and
very rewarding also. Your transplanted cajun
cousin, Cajun Queen
