Melanie, If you are a descendent of any McDorman from Blackwell Tx. You have more distant cousins out here than you can imagine! Since you are 17 I am guessing that if do come from this particular clan then your great, great, grandfather would have been a William, John, or Parker McDorman. Of course we are also kin to the McDormans that settled over in Coke County but other than Linzy Houston McDorman I don't know any of their names. Shannon

My father was in the Marines during WWII. He fought on Iwo Jima. If you every can find a picture or the original flag raising, he was the rifleman from West Virginia guarding the flag. I saw you were a WWII vet and thought you might find it interesting.

Record has it that the Marine with the carbine was
Jim Michaels.

"Lowery, wanting added drama for his shot, motioned to
Jim Michaels, who crouched dramatically in the forground
with his carbine."

Would it be possible that you might know anything about the parents of John McDorman (1760-1817) John was born in VA and died in Ohio. His descendents (my relations) are:

James McDorman 1800-1894 Ohio
William Henry McDorman 1808-1868 Missouri
James William McDorman 1849-1921 Blackwell, TX James William was brother to Lindsay Houston.
Ida McDorman 1877-1949 married James Newton Montgomery, Sr. - Ida was my grandmother and lived in Blackwell. Her son Lindsay Houston Montgomery is my uncle.

Surnames: McDormans in Coleman, TX
WOW. I am not 24 years old; I was 17 when I last replied.

I don't know my father's side of the family very well. My father's name is Kennon McDorman and his father is Wayne McDorman (who married Wanda Davis-McDorman). He grew up in Coleman, Texas. I know I have a large amount of 2nd cousins still in that area that I've never met. :(
